28/12/11 - Happy Lattymas!

Christmas this year has been more than i could have asked for. I spent the holidays with the lovely Latty's and enjoyed every minute of it, which you should be able to tell from the photos.
I also snapped these with a Canon 550D - Something which is very different from my usual practice...

Its a shame i didn't take any snaps of the actual tree, but i think i made up for it with many photos of unusual knife behaviour...

24/12/11 - Merry Christmas!

To all. I hope everyone has a perfect Christmas.
Fingers crossed to a visit from Santa.

Friday 23 December 2011

On this day, in 2009...

...I was visiting family in Bucharest for the Christmas holiday. There is nothing quite like carrying a tree home surrounded by snow in the city, and i also enjoyed attending my little brothers nativity.
I miss this, but i think the Christmas period this year will be something to look forward to.

19/12/11 - Crown.

So, i have been thinking about picking up this blog again but this time turning it into some kind of photography journal.
Less about other peoples photos, (there's always tumblr for that) but more of a scrap book of mine. Lets see how this goes...

Saturday 9 April 2011

09/04/11 - Marvel Hill & Do You Believe.

The Cardigans - Gran Turismo.
The sun has finally made an appearance and i like nothing more than to be out in it listening to female vocals and chilled bands.
Marvel Hill and Do You Believe are 2 tracks that i have been listening to non stop today and i cannot/will not settle for just one of them. Especially as they have gotten me through the awful weekend food shop, and the inescapable power walk home with the said goods - in the sun!
People might possibly be familiar with The Cardigans tracks Lovefool (1996) or My Favourite Game (also from Gran Turismo 1998),
as they have been featured in movies such as Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet and numerous car adverts. I remember listening to them whilst in my mums Nissan Prairie.
CD car stereos didn't exist then and i can recall learning the tracks off by heart in the passenger seat on my portable CD player, holding it in mid air trying to stop the tracks jumping or skipping whilst my mum drove on uneven roads. That was dedication for a 7 year old!
If you haven't heard these tracks already, enjoy! They aren't the go to/most popular tracks from the album but i love them.
The Cardigans + Sunshine = Win!

For some reason the videos won't work, i will put the links to the videos on youtube here instead, and i have found an album sampler video (which works!) for you to check out.
Sorry for the fail.

31/03/11 - Metabolism

The Strokes - Angles.
Ok, so i am incredibly rubbish at sticking to my commitment of posting one track a day, even though it sounds pretty easy. I was reminded yesterday that i even had this blog, and due to peer pressure and the nagging from my friends i am going to start it up again.
I have been falling behind with it as i am currently in my last year at uni, the deadlines are rushing in, and the end is very very near! So whilst trying to stay on top of everything else this has sunk to the bottom -but for no longer!

My track of the day is of course from The Strokes! The album Angles is everywhere at the moment, everybody seems to be loving it, and after waiting for it for a lengthy 5 years i would say it has been more then worth it! Machu Picchu, You're So Right and Taken For a Fool all do it for me, they are brilliant and i have been obsessively listening to the tracks wherever i go. (Thank God for the invention of Ipods) The winner for me though has to be Metabolism, i j'adore it, love it, want it! It is the Juicebox of Angles. It helps me complete mundane domestic chores. I have even enjoyed listening to this album pumping from some randoms headphones whilst on the tube and not complained!
So for those of you crazy people that have yet to laid ears upon this album here is Metabolism, and yes Pete i dedicate this to you.

P.s. I hope i have managed to write the album name Angles consistently and not written Angels anywhere...

17/03/11 - No One's Gonna Love You.

Band Of Horses - Cease to Begin.
Wow! So it has been almost a month since my last post. That is shameful, but it has been a rather chaotic month to say the least.
Band Of Horses have made it as my track of the day again. I think i have listened to "No One's Gonna Love You" approximately 14 times in the last 16 hours. There is a beauty to this track, and listening to it whilst observing complete strangers on the tube is surreal.
The actress Kristen Stewart is one of those people you love to hate, yet i find myself loving her when she admits to her obsession with B.O.H on Youtube. Something that i have also been doing. They are a great band, an amazingly talented group of musicians. They have a folky and calm, yet modern style and profess to love and the world being a beautiful place. They are the ideal band for the Hippy way.

As one Youtube user says, "Came for the music...stayed for the beards." I couldn't agree more.
Enjoy.

Sunday 20 February 2011

20/02/11 - Lotus Flower.

Radiohead - King of Limbs.
The digital world is buzzing with news of Radiohead's new album "King of Limbs" which was released 24 hours early this weekend.
So far Lotus Flower is all i have listened to as i'm attempting to save myself for the LP, but if i am realistic that is not going to happen.
There is something so magical about Radiohead, whether that is due to their whimsical melodies, or their defying of digital and industry regulations it is hard to say. I can say however that the album is true to form, if you enjoy their previous work you won't be let down. Also i think it is a right treat to see a video so soon, especially when it is featuring the moves of Yorke himself.
Im impressed.
P.s. He definitely stole some of those moves from me.

Saturday 19 February 2011

19/02/11 - Wish You Were Here.

Incubus - Morning View.
This song reminds me of perfect times. The old perfect someone. It is my "Track of The Day" today as i'm at the old fork in the road. Currently i am at the position and time in life where i need to figure out what i am to do next, reviewing my life so far seems to be the place to go first. It therefore brings me back to old places, old friends, traveling and Incubus.
Sitting on The Downs in Eastbourne and reminiscing of star lit beaches in Thailand whilst listening to "Wish You Were Here" is a defining moment.
Plus it doesn't hurt to listen/look at Brandon Boyd. (WIN)
A little nostalgia never hurt anyone... right?

Friday 18 February 2011

18/02/11 - Square One Here I Come...

The Hives - The Black and White Album.
Ah, The Hives, what a brilliant band! After receiving some hilarious news yesterday and attempting to pogo around my room to "Hate To Say I Told You So" i rediscovered my love for the swedish 5. "Square One Here I Come" never previously stood out to me, yet today i have listened to it roughly 20+ times - therefore submitting it as "My Track of the Day!" I love the simple lyrics, the upbeat tempo and what i think is the sound of a cow bell? Or perhaps the two halves of a coconut being hit together...
I think i looked really special rocking out to it whilst driving home today.
I'm sure that the majority have heard other tracks of theirs from a few car adverts, but perhaps not this one.
Enjoy!

Monday 14 February 2011

14/02/11 - Fleur De Saison.

Emilie Simon - Emilie Simon.
This is my track of the day. Listen to it. I have not alot to say today.
Enjoy it. If anyone can translate, please do. I know i can look it up on google but where is the fun in that?
Whimsical. Feeling it.

After posting this I have watched the video for the first time, and absolutely hate it! As my friend Amelia (http://ameliais.blogspot.com/) has pointed out it looks like a "kin" perfume advert. I recommend you just listen to it. Don't, under any condition watch the video. It has ruined my track of the day post. FML.

Sunday 13 February 2011

13/02/11 - Not About Love.

Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine.
Have you ever had one of those days where you make a stupid decision? Well today, is a day like that, except i didn't make the stupid decision. Confusing? Tell me about it.
The beat, rhythm and feel of this song match my day. I also chose this song partially because of the video. Nothing gets better than Zach Galifianakis, full stop. Fiona Apple is a longtime love of mine, i j'adore her, so i am surprised that i only came across this video a few days ago. Its a total Win.
Enjoy.

Saturday 12 February 2011

12/02/11 - Untitled...

Fever Ray -
O.K. So today's track of the day is a tricky one! I heard it originally whilst watching the trailer for the new Red Riding Hood movie - which comes out next month. My attention peaked at 44 seconds when there are female vocals that sound slightly like Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. According to geeks on the net, it is actually the artist Fever Ray, (who is in The Knife) but it is difficult to confirm as the song hasn't been released yet.
Take a listen, hopefully it will leak soon!

P.s. Can i just say that this movie looks just like Twilight and guess who directed it. Yep you got it, Catherine Hardwicke! Also what is up with the male leads Pattinson-esque hair, really?! Would they have even had the means to have created that look in the time the movie is set. Grr.

Moan over.

Friday 11 February 2011

11/02/11 - Pull Out + Romantic Rights.

Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine.
Today's track of the day is dedicated to these dirty men, Death From Above 1979. It is only fair to post 2 tracks. Tickets went on sale this morning for some one off gigs, which have been well awaited and anticipated - it was about time they got their act together! I luckily managed to bag a couple tickets with the help of mi madre (thanks!) although they sold out within the first hour.
Give this duo a listen, they are great. I remember listening to them on my daily march into secondary school years and years ago!
Also just a little tip, don't listen to them whilst in an MRI machine...

Wednesday 9 February 2011

09/02/11 - Inertia Creeps.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine.
Wow, i have really slipped up with the blogging at the moment! Oops. In all fairness i do have a pretty good excuse - which i'm not going to post on here.
I have been feeling very mellow recently which is odd considering i am in my final year and semester of university. It might have something to do with filling my ears with the likes of Portishead, Radiohead and Massive Attack.
There is just something about the beats. I think i might spend tomorrow listening to Deftones, Finch and Death From Above 1979 just for a change. Shake up the pace a little.

Saturday 5 February 2011

05/02/11 - Wandering Star

Portishead - Dummy.
Finally i have Dummy on vinyl! I arrived back at my mum's house to a nice present from amazon - a present from myself. Doe's anyone else find the way that they pack vinyl ridiculous? You could fit a child in the box mine came in.
After a brilliant but almost sleepless 48 hours my "Track of the Day" is Wandering Star, it's perfect for my hazy brain.
I'm going to go rest my eye's so relax and enjoy.

Thursday 3 February 2011

03/02/11 - Is there a ghost.

Band of Horses - Cease to Begin.
O.K. So i might have forgotten yesterday to post my "Track of the Day" but to be fair it was a slightly chaotic day!
I have been listening to Band of Horses religiously for the past few days as they are playing in Bexhill tomorrow night, i haven't a ticket yet but i'm 90% sure i'm going to be there! Their motivational sounding tracks make for some easy listening and that live would be perfect.
Enjoy the track, maybe don't watch the video and just listen. I don't get it...

Tuesday 1 February 2011

01/02/11 - Where the wild roses grow.

Nick Cave & Bad Seeds Ft. Kylie Minogue.
PINCH PUNCH FIRST OF THE MONTH!
So my first "Track of the Day" in February is "Where the wild roses grow." I first heard this song when a friend of mine burnt it to a C.D for me back in the days of college - years ago. I asked for a depressing mix C.D, and that is what i got.
This song is beautiful, and can be appreciated at the end of a long, exhausting day! Well i think so anyway.
Kylie should do more like this!

Monday 31 January 2011

31/01/11 - The Creep.

The Lonely Island - (2nd album)
Ok so i have already chosen my track for today, but this is too good to be missed!
The Lonely Island have previously released Youtube hits such as "I'm on a boat" and "Jizzed in my pants" i think everyone must have seen one or t'other by now.
This is a new one by the very same guys and it features Nicki Minaj. I love the whole thing! The track, the T-rex arms, their moustaches and outfits.
If you fancy a laugh check it out...

31/01/11 - I follow rivers.

Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes.
Some of you might know Lykke Li for 'Im Good, I'm Gone' as heard in that awful stripper movie thing with Lindsay Lohan.
She is very talented - Lykke, not Lindsay!
"I follow Rivers" Is most definitely my "Track of the Day" it has wormed its way into my head and i don't think it will leaving anytime soon...

Sunday 30 January 2011

30/01/11 - Month of May.

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs.
Go jump on the sofa, and also the bed - whilst you have this turned up loud!
"Month of May" is by no means a favourite, but it saved me from boredom whilst sat in a traffic jam on the M25 today. If you like it
perhaps check out the rest of the album. Neon Bible and Funeral are winners also.
I have a lot of room in my heart for Arcade Fire, do you?
P.s. If anyone see's Win Butler send him my way?

Saturday 29 January 2011

29/01/11 - You think i ain't worth a dollar, but i feel like a millionaire.

Q.O.T.S.A - Song's for the Deaf.
This is more of an album of the day then a track of the day - so i am going to post my favourite track from the album as
the "Track of the Day."
"You think i ain't worth a dollar, but i feel like a millionaire" is perfect for those types of days when everything is a big, confusing jumble. If you are having one of those day's i recommend you play this, but make sure you have some sub's and the volume upped to the max! This is a bit different to everything i have posted so far, so if you are unfamiliar with it, and plan on full volume, be ready...

Friday 28 January 2011

28/01/11 - I'll try anything once.

The Strokes - Heart in a Cage B-Side.
O.k, so as you can tell, today is going to again break the "Track of the day" convention as this is my second post.
I just can't help it. The mix of enthusiasm for trying something new, mixed with my love of music is resulting in this.
"I'll try anything once" is a mellow, slightly sombre track, it is contrasting when compared to their other upbeat tunes.
If you are a movie wizz you might have heard it recently in Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere" in the scene where they are drinking tea at the bottom of the pool. Heaven.
Enjoy.

28/01/11 - Frontier Psychiatrist.

The Avalanches - Since i left you.
This has been a long time favourite for me, i think the first time i heard it was when i was around the age of 14 - i believe i still have an ex's C.D of the album poking around somewhere.
The song and the video are both equally fascinating to me, if Dexter wasn't insane before, he well would have been after watching this.
I don't know what else to write about this track, it definately leaves me gobsmacked.
Anyway the beat is great, so is the man-turtle... Have a ganders.

Thursday 27 January 2011

27/01/11 - Listen to your love.

Mona - (Trouble on the way?)
O.k. this is my last and final "Track of the Day" for today. I promise.
I recently won some tickets from Q Magazine to go and see these men from Nashville in our very own "Lundan".
They are expected to be big this year, and by the sound of their debut single "Listen To Your Love" i would put money on it!
Check them out, and let's try to restrain ourselves from comparing them to Kings of Leon shall we...

27/01/11 - I think i'm paranoid.

Garbage - Version 2.0.
"I think i'm paranoid" was released in 1998, and i have loved it since then.
It pop's up to say hello in my itunes every now and then, and when it does i can't help but listen to it excessively.
Garbage, Shirley Manson, post grunge. Enough said.
Oh and can you tell that i am well over keen on this whole blog idea. It might need renaming to "Track of the last 10 minutes"...

27/01/11 - Undertow

Warpaint - The Fool.
Ok, so technically this is my 2nd "Track of the Day" today, but it needed to be put out there!
After the initial attraction to this song for sounding like Nirvana's "Polly", i have had "The Fool" on a constant
spin on the record player. It took me ages to figure out what it sounded like but i think that is it!
There is a somewhat nostalgic vibe created within the track listing. (Which isn't what i would expect from L.A)
Well worth a listen. Prop's to this all girl group.
Do you hear the similarity to "Polly"?

27/01/11 - My love goes down.

Plan B - The Defamation of Strickland Banks.
Take a listen to this and see if it was what you were expecting from Plan B.
This stunning bit of soul definately makes a change from Ben Drew's usual.
If you love a bit of vinyl make sure you pick this one up, it is a beaut'.

Wednesday 26 January 2011

26/01/11 - Rolling in the deep...

Adele.
She make's me proud to be from the U.K.
The following track 'Rolling in the deep' is from her upcoming album entitled 21,
it is another winner from her showcasing her incredible voice and talent.
This definately fits the day that i have just had.
